Diamonds are a left fielder’s best friend.
But Wednesday night Yoenis Cespedes wasn’t too happy with the chain that was supposed to secure his diamonds around his neck.
The flashy, flamboyant Cespedes, who began his major league career with the A’s in 2012, now patrols left field for the Mets.
Wednesday night the Mets were in Atlanta. Cespedes hit a blooper down the right field line in the first inning. He decided to try for a double. As he slid into second base he got tangled with the Braves’ Ozzie Albies. When Cespedes stood up, he saw gems from the necklace he was wearing dropping into the dirt.
