After two downers of seasons, marked more by the continued departures of fan favorites than anything else, the A’s remain without a stadium plan and with the looming possibility of losing some or all of their annual chunk of revenue sharing. They’re in last place again, Coco Crisp ripped the front office for the way his vesting option was handled, Danny Valencia and Billy Butler had an altercation in the clubhouse and the fan base is dwindling.
Here’s one potential antidote for all that recent negativity: The A’s have several key contributors remaining who could be signed to multiyear deals, potential money-savers down the line for the club and a show of commitment to the players and to the fans.
