ARLINGTON — Matt Chapman is in a rut.
These things happen; the waves of a long season bump, flow and can crash hard in September. Especially in a wild card race where every single win and loss could differentiate a postseason berth from a day packing up the clubhouses for home.
And, given Chapman’s aggressive nature — on both side of the ball — his slumps crash especially hard. Since September 3, Chapman is batting .121 with two home runs and 18 strikeouts, culminating in a four-strikeout game against Justin Verlander and the Houston Astros on Thursday.
