MESA, Ariz. – It’s been five weeks since the A’s signed reliever Santiago Casilla to bolster their bullpen, and they’d hoped the longtime Giants’ closer would be in camp by now.
It was a late signing, and visa issues relating to getting him out of the Dominican Republic were going to take some time for that reason. Still, the A’s are looking at March staring them in the face, and he’s not with the club yet.
There are reports that he’s been throwing at the A’s training facility in the Dominican Republic while waiting for his Visa issues to be cleared up, but that’s not the same as pitching in the A’s camp.
