OAKLAND -- The A's fell short in Tuesday's series opener against the Mariners, as their four-game winning streak ended with a 3-2 loss in 10 innings.
Against A's right-hander Yusmeiro Petit, Jean Segura reached base on a one-out single in the 10th, then scurried home on Guillermo Heredia's ensuing double, as Segura slid head first into home for the go-ahead run.
The A's went down in order against Mariners closer Edwin Diaz in the bottom of the 10th, a homecoming spoiled following a 7-3 road swing through the East Coast.
