HOUSTON – Billy Butler extended his hitting streak to 10 games with a single to center in his first at-bat Wednesday night, setting an Oakland record for longest hitting streak to start an A’s career.
Butler was tied with Alfredo Griffin, who hit in nine straight from April 9-17, 1985. Butler is also the only American League player with a 10-game hitting streak to start the season. Butler has one homer and six RBI so far in 2015.
The A’s trailed 2-0 in the second inning after former Athletic Jed Lowrie hit a two-run homer off Drew Pomeranz in the first.
