MINNEAPOLIS - Catcher Bruce Maxwell was up so early Thursday, at 3:30 a.m. after a long night game at Round Rock, Texas, that he had to make sure he let the flight attendant know he was sleep deprived.
“She thought I was delirious or something,” he said. “I was like, ‘Nah, I’m just sleepy.’ ”
Maxwell estimated he got about 45 minutes of sleep; his Uber to the airport in Austin was at 4:15 a.m. and he arrived in Oakland’s clubhouse at 10:15 a.m. for Thursday’s noon game.
Still, no complaints. Maxwell is happy to be back with the A’s, though the circumstances aren’t ideal: Josh Phegley was placed on the 7-day concussion DL.
