Rarely does a Triple-A game merit the lead to the A’s Beat, but Wednesday’s 11-8 Nashville victory at Iowa deserves the attention of Oakland fans, and not merely because the Sounds prevailed on a three-run homer in the 11th inning by Ryan Lavarnway.
Nashville trailed 8-2 before scoring six times in the eighth inning. It tied the game on Matt Olson’s grand slam. He had a day to remember: that slam and four walks.
Three Oakland right-handers on the disabled list pitched for Nashville. Kendall Graveman (strained shoulder) started and allowed four runs on five hits in 21/3 innings.
