Barreto makes history as A’s blast White Sox

CHICAGO — Franklin Barreto slugged a pair of three-run home runs Friday to lead the A’s to their fifth straight victory — an 11-2 rout of the Chicago White Sox — and put himself in the team record book.

At 22 years and 115 days old, Barreto became the youngest A’s player in at least 110 years to have a 6-RBI game. The previous youngest was Hall of Famer Jimmie Foxx, who did it in 1930 at 22 years and 212 days old. The A’s researched as far back as 1908.

Barreto’s first home run also made a bit of history.
