Athletics reinstate Ramón Laureano from IL

OAKLAND — Ramón Laureano was one of baseball’s hottest hitters before a stress reaction in his shin had him IL-bound back on July 29.

With the postseason race intensifying by the day, Laureano was reinstated prior to the Oakland A’s series against the Detroit Tigers, a series that will throw back to complete a suspended May 19 game at Comerica Park.

Laureano was champing at the bit to return to action. He took some swings against Daniel Gossett, who is recovering from Tommy John surgery, and feels ready to contribute without an assignment. But he was always in manager Bob Melvin’s office, petitioning to play.
