NEW YORK — Sheldon Neuse didn’t sleep all Wednesday night. He had a flight out to join the A’s in Kansas City at 7:50 a.m. from Albuquerque, but excitement overwhelmed sleepiness.
Just a few hours prior, triple-A Las Vegas manager Fran Riordan pulled Neuse from the batting cages with the news.
“He said ‘We’ve had two and a half, three years together now. I watched you dominate the league this year after going through all that last year. Now it’s time to try and go do it up there,'” Neuse said. “I was just in shock, I didn’t really know what to say at first.
