A’s fans are so far agreeing with the national rankings of the system. Taking the number three spot among the voters is right-handed pitcher Luis Morales, a 22-year old with high upside. The righty has had a rapid rise during his baseball career, originally defecting from Cuba in 2021 to earning $3 million from the A’s during the 2023 international signing period to playing on four different levels in the A’s system that same year. Morales has plus-stuff, including a strong fastball as well as a developing slider and changeup. The club is having Morales focus on harnessing those first three pitches before working on his curveball, which the club stopped him from even using last year which was his first full season at A+.
