OAKLAND — The Athletics have agreed to buy Alameda County’s ownership half of the Oakland-Alameda County Coliseum site in a move that gives the baseball team a backup plan if it can’t build a new ballpark at Howard’s Terminal.
A vote to begin negotiations on the $85-million deal is expected at the Alameda County Board of Supervisors meeting Tuesday, Supervisor Nate Miley said Tuesday morning.
The San Francisco Chronicle first reported the deal that county officials say will keep the A’s in Oakland at a time the Raiders and Golden State Warriors are leaving the 155-acre Coliseum site.
