It has been a half-century since Catfish Hunter threw a perfect game. It has been 47 years since Reggie Jackson homered off a roof-top light tower in the All-Star game and Vida Blue became an authentic sensation.
It has been 44 years since the A’s put the cherry on top of their World Series championship three-peat, and Herb Washington became major league baseball’s first (and as we speak, only) designated pinch runner. It has been 29 years since the A’s helped heal a shaken Bay Area, winning the Earthquake World Series.
So how is it that the A’s — with all those players, with all those moments, with all that history — have never established a franchise Hall of Fame?
