OAKLAND – The A’s will be naming the grounds at the Oakland Coliseum “Rickey Henderson Field” as a way to honor the Hall of Famer who is baseball’s all-time stolen base and runs scored leader.
The dedication of the newly named field will take place during a pregame ceremony on Opening Night, April 3, when the A’s kick off the 2017 season against the Angels.
Henderson, who spent four different tours of duty with the A’s, has been an instructor with the A’s for the last few seasons and now will take on the role of special assistant to club president Dave Kaval.
