OAKLAND — The A’s deep starting rotation seems to be growing stronger by the day.
Sean Manaea delivered his second straight strong performance since coming off a year-long absence to rehab shoulder surgery, allowing just one run and striking out 10 in seven innings as the A’s beat Detroit 3-1 on Sunday in front of 24,550 to close out a homestand.
After the game came word that the A’s will reportedly bring up top left-handed pitching prospect Jesus Luzardo, who will join the team in Houston on Monday, according to MLB.com.
Manager Bob Melvin immediately after the game said he could not confirm Luzardo’s promotion, saying he did not have that information.
