Trailing 3-1 entering the eighth inning, the A's broke out for four runs and held on to beat the Royals 5-4 in Kansas City Tuesday night.
Royals starter Danny Duffy held the A's to a Khris Davis solo home run through seven innings, but rookie Ryon Healy led off the eighth with a home run.
Brett Eibnet drew a one-out walk, leading to Duffy being removed from the game. Matt Strahm came in in relief and got rookie Renato Nunez to pop out. But Chad Pinder reached on an infield single. Joakim Soria relieved Strahm and promptly gave up a two-run double to pinch-hitter Yonder Alonso.
