A's stress acceptance, inclusion on Pride Night

OAKLAND -– The A’s held their first Pride Night on Wednesday, and the organization received a thumbs-up for its efforts to recognize and support the LGBT community.

Billy Bean, Major League Baseball’s Ambassador for Inclusion who shares a nearly identical name to Oakland’s general manager, attended the festivities, and he applauded the efforts the A’s have made in the area of acceptance for all.

Bean, who came out as gay after his Major League playing career ended in 1995, has visited with clubs to discuss the topic. A’s G.M. Billy Beane invited him to address Oakland’s players during spring training, and he talked with members of the A’s front office Wednesday.
