A's starting rotation a surprising strength early in 2019 MLB season

OAKLAND – Is it possible we were all wrong?

The media, fans, and scouts alike were convinced the A's starting rotation would be a serious issue. Okay, it's only been three games, but you have to admit Oakland's starters have looked phenomenal.

Mike Fiers, Marco Estrada, and now Brett Anderson have all tossed six shutout innings against the Los Angeles Angels. The last time three A's starters have done that in succession was 2005, a feat accomplished by Kirk Saarloos, Barry Zito, and Joe Blanton.

"It's been fantastic," A's manager Bob Melvin said after Oakland's win over the Angels on Saturday.
