OAKLAND — No-hit through the first 7 2/3 innings by Boston's Eduardo Rodriguez, the A's not only spoiled the no-hitter but beat the Red Sox 1-0 in the bottom of the ninth Sunday at the Coliseum.
Marcus Semien's infield single off Rodriguez's foot with two outs in the bottom of the eighth ended the no-hitter, and Rodriguez gave way to closer Craig Kimbrel in the ninth.Kimbrel didn't get an out. He walked Danny Valencia to start the inning, then Khris Davis doubled to left field. Left fielder Brock Holt fumbled the ball trying to pick up the band Valencia was waved home by third base coach Ron Washington.
