ANAHEIM — Oakland A’s manager Bob Melvin has stressed the need for more offense in the four-game series against the revitalized Los Angeles Angels.
He had to fill out a lineup card without one of his most dangerous hitters on Friday, however. Khris Davis was given the night off after he was hit on the left hand in the seventh inning of the 8-3 loss to the Angels in the series opener on Thursday.
“Just a little swollen today, having trouble gripping the bat, so we’ll give him the night off,” Melvin said before Friday’s game.
Melvin said he didn’t think Davis needed X-rays.
