PITTSBURGH — Khris Davis exited Sunday’s game against the Pirates after the top of the second inning with a left hip contusion, the result of a collision with the left field fence.
Davis was pursing a ball hit by Pirates leadoff man Adam Frazier in the bottom of the first inning. He made the catch, as he reached into the stands and slammed into the padded railing.
The brunt of the contact came to Davis’ ribs, on the left side of his body, although he stayed in the game.
Normally Oakland’s designated hitter, Davis has started in left field in all three games of this series, making a couple of above-average plays.
