A’s sign Matt Joyce: ‘great opportunity to help this team rebuild’

Without Josh Reddick or Coco Crisp or Danny Valencia, the A’s need outfielders. Khris Davis is the only returning outfielder who started more than 77 games last season.

The A’s made a move to add outfield depth by reaching a two-year, $11 million agreement with Matt Joyce. The deal, which is pending a physical, was reported by Fox’s Ken Rosenthal and confirmed by The Chronicle’s Susan Slusser.

Joyce, 32, who bats left-handed, hit .242 with a .403 on-base percentage, 13 homers and 42 RBIs for Pittsburgh last season.
