ARLINGTON, Texas — The A’s picked a veteran pitcher on the verge of making history.
Edwin Jackson, who the A’s signed to a minor league deal Wednesday afternoon, has played for 12 different major league teams over 15 season in the big leagues. He’ll be assigned to Triple-A Nashville, and if he gets called up to the A’s at some point this season, Jackson will tie former A’s reliever Octavio Dotel for most major league clubs played for with 13.
Jackson was in the Washington Nationals organization this season, going 4-2 with a 3.40 ERA with 47 strikeouts and 22 walks over 10 starts.
