OAKLAND -- The Oakland A’s selected left-handed pitcher Sean Manaea and recalled right-handed pitcher Andrew Triggs from Triple-A Nashville, the club announced today.
The A’s also optioned catcher/outfielder Matt McBride to Nashville and placed right-handed pitcher Chris Bassitt on the 15-day disabled list with a strained right elbow. To clear a spot on the 40-man roster for Manaea, the A’s transferred outfielder Sam Fuld to the 60-day disabled list.
Manaea was 2-0 with a 1.50 ERA and .232 opponents batting average in three starts with Nashville and will be making his major league debut Friday night. He is scheduled to start against Houston and will become the 45th pitcher in Oakland history to start in his debut.
