The A’s will begin their series in Boston with just a two-man bench after placing first baseman/outfielder Mark Canha on the 10-day injured list with a sprained right wrist on Monday morning.
Oakland called up Ryan Buchter from Triple-A Las Vegas to give them a left-hander to go with its eight right-handers in the bullpen.
Pending any additional moves before Monday night’s game against the Red Sox, the A’s will go a man short on the bench since they have just 11 position players. The A’s bench now will consist of a backup catcher (either Nick Hundley or Josh Phegley) and one position player (whichever of Chad Pinder, Kendrys Morales or Robbie Grossman isn’t in the lineup).
