The A’s announced Monday that shortstop Marcus Semien will require surgery on his right wrist after a CT scane revealed a fracture to the scaphoid bone. The surgery will take place on Tuesday in Los Angeles, where Dr. Steve Shin of the Kerlan-Jobe Clinic will place a screw in the fractured area to help the healing process.
Semien was placed on the disabled list Sunday after getting his wrist checked out during the weekend, as first reported by The Chronicle. He will be re-evaluated in six weeks, and there is no timetable for his return.
