The A's selected the contract of infielder Ryon Healy from Triple-A Nashville on Friday, and they optioned outfielder Billy Burns to Triple-A.
Right-hander Nick Tepesch was designated for assignment to make room for Healy on the 40-man roster.
Healy, the club's No. 16 prospect per MLB Pipeline, was hitting .326/.382/.558 with 14 home runs and 64 RBIs in 85 games between Double-A Midland and Nashville. The 6-foot-5, 225-pounder also played in this week's Futures Game, going 2-for-3 with a walk for the U.S. team.
Healy, 24, leads the A's full-season Minor Leaguers in batting, ranks second in RBIs and is tied for third in home runs.
