OAKLAND -- The A's second half isn't really a half; they've already played 89 games and have just 73 left with the Blue Jays coming to town Friday to rev up the post-All-Star break portion of the schedule.
Beyond that, the A's second half may only be only 16 games. That's because the trade deadline comes up before Game 17, and there's a good chance that the A's will look different come August. While some moves are all but inevitable — Rich Hill, scratched from Friday's start against Toronto because of a blister, is the most impactful starting pitcher currently available — some of the trades that A's fans debate about with the most fervor are unlikely to come off.
