Sean Manaea’s parents and girlfriend were out of town, so the A’s pitcher returned to his apartment after Saturday night’s no-hitter and, as he said, “watched a couple videos.”
As in movies?
“No, the highlights,” he said.
Naturally, Manaea couldn’t help but watch what had transpired at the Coliseum hours earlier, the seventh Oakland no-hitter in history, against the Red Sox, of all teams, simply the best-hitting group in the majors.
So how many times did Manaea watch the final pitch, which resulted in Hanley Ramirez’s grounder to shortstop Marcus Semien?
“Um … I watched it over and over,” he said with a smile that he has flashed nonstop since the 27th out.
