MIAMI - Ryan Madson quietly is having the type of season that might get him traded next month.
The veteran reliever hasn’t allow a run in eight of his past nine games entering Wednesday, he has 26 strikeouts in 24 2/3 innings and he is holding right-handed hitters to a .167 average this season.
“You look at the overall numbers, he’s probably been our most consistent guy,” manager Bob Melvin said. “Shoot, I think he’s pitching as well as he has at any point in his career.”
Madson credits his routine and preparation, not letting the schedule and the travel get to him.
