Say this much for the A’s: They’re not afraid to try out guys in the rotation.
They’ve used 14 starters, half of whom made their major-league debuts this season. Four of those are in the current rotation, which goes six deep until further notice.
The only man in the rotation all season has been Kendall Graveman, who had a rare clunker in Saturday’s 14-3 loss to Felix Hernandez and the Mariners, yielding eight runs and a career-high 12 hits.
The Mariners, still fighting for a wild-card berth, scored five times off J.B. Wendelken and totaled 17 hits.
