A's release first baseman Nate Freiman

After spending the last three seasons in the Oakland organization, first baseman Nate Freiman was released by the A's, the team confirmed to CSNCalifornia.com on Wednesday.

The news of Freiman's release was first reported by Athletics Farm.

Freiman played in 116 games between 2013 and 2014, posting a .256/.309/.408 line with nine home runs and 39 RBI.

In 2015, the 28-year-old Freiman played 79 games for Triple-A Nashville, where he hit four home runs and drove in 31 runs.

Freiman, originally an eighth round pick by the Padres in the 2009 MLB Draft, joined the A's in March of 2013 after being selected off waivers from the Houston Astros.
