The A’s recalled right-handed J.B. Wendelken from Triple-A Nashville Friday to fill a vacant spot on the roster.
Wendelken, who pitched twice in early May for the A’s, takes the roster spot opened when Oakland sent left-handed starter Eric Surkamp down to the Sounds Thursday.
Wendelken, 23, was picked up from the White Sox when the A’s traded third baseman Brett Lawrie to Chicago in December.
Oakland promoted him to the big leagues on May 8, and he made his Major League debut that day, allowing four runs in 1.1 innings. He also pitched the next day in Boston before being returned to the Sounds.
