The Oakland A’s recalled catcher Matt McBride from Triple-A Nashville and optioned right-handed pitcher Zach Neal to Nashville, the club announced on Friday afternoon.
This will be McBride’s second stint with the A’s this season. He was originally selected from Nashville on April 27 but did not appear in a game with the A’s before being optioned on April 29. He was batting .175 with a home run and four RBI in 20 games with the Sounds and also walked six times for a .246 on-base percentage. The 30-year-old right-handed hitter signed a minor league contract with the A’s Dec.
