OAKLAND — Khris Davis stole the spotlight from baseball’s hottest slugger in his return to Northern California on Thursday night.
Davis clinched an 8-7 come-from-behind win for the A’s over the New York Yankees, driving in two runs with two outs in the 10th with a bloop single to center that hit the tip of second baseman Starlin Castro’s glove.
The late-inning heroics at the Oakland Coliseum spoiled the homecoming of Yankees rookie Aaron Judge, who grew up in the San Joaquin County city of Linden. Judge, who leads the majors in home runs (22), went 1 for 5 with three strikeouts.
