LAKE BUENA VISTA, Fla. — The A’s and Cardinals, who had conversations about outfielder Stephen Piscotty throughout the winter meetings, appeared to have reached an agreement Wednesday night.
The Chronicle reported early Wednesday that the teams were close to a trade and could strike a deal before the end of the winter meetings Thursday. Jon Heyman of FanRag Sports reported Wednesday night that terms had been reached that would send two minor-leaguers to St. Louis.
St. Louis was looking for prospects off Oakland’s 40-man roster, and though the A’s will not move any of their top young players, one name under discussion, according to one industry source, was infielder/outfielder Yairo Muñoz.
