A’s president Dave Kaval relinquishes MLS job

CLEVELAND - A’s team president Dave Kaval has stepped back from his duties with the San Jose Earthquakes, the team confirmed Wednesday.

Kaval was hired to run the A’s in November and he had continued performing the same job with the MLS team, too, for the past six months. San Jose has hired Tom Fox, a former English Premiere League executive, as the new team president, the San Jose Mercury News reported.

Kaval has said since January that the A’s will identify a site for a new ballpark this year, and Wednesday’s news means that he can devote all of his time to that effort.
