The A's placed Ben Zobrist on the 15-day disabled list Saturday with a medial meniscus tear in his left knee.
To take his roster spot, infielder Max Muncy was called up from Triple-A Nashville. This is Muncy's first stint in the majors.
The plan for Zobrist's treatment, and whether surgery will be involved, wasn't immediately known. He started at DH on Friday night after missing the previous four games.
To make room for Muncy on the 40-man roster, reliever Eury De La Rosa was designated for assignment.
