The A’s placed right fielder Josh Reddick on the 15-day disabled list Friday and recalled outfielder Jake Smolinski from Triple-A Nashville.
Reddick fractured his left thumb Thursday night during a slide into second base against the New York Yankees. He is scheduled to see a hand specialist Friday, which should give the A’s an idea of how much time their No. 3 hitter will be out.
Reddick told reporters Thursday night that the initial estimate was four to six weeks.
Smolinski was batting .248 with three home runs and 15 RBI in 39 games with Nashville.
