Another day, another injury for the Oakland A’s. Two this time.
The A’s placed relief pitchers Burch Smith and Reymin Guduan on the 10-day injured list Tuesday, the team announced. For Smith it’s a strained right groin, and for Guduan it’s sprained left thumb.
To take their spots, Oakland brought up reliever Jordan Weems and outfielder Seth Brown from their alternate site camp.
The Guduan news is expected, as the lefty exited the game Monday after falling awkwardly while covering first base on a grounder. Smith’s injury is a new development, meaning the A’s have now incurred five injuries since the first pitch of Opening Day, just five games into the season, though one of them already returned to the lineup.
