ARLINGTON, Texas - A’s starter Daniel Gossett, who returned to the Bay Area on Monday for an MRI on his right elbow, was placed on the 10-day disabled list Tuesday with a flexor muscle strain.
Gossett will be shut down from throwing for a few weeks, and it appears as if Paul Blackburn, who has been out since spring training with a forearm strain, will take his spot in the rotation.
“I’m here to pitch sometime,” said Blackburn, who had been scheduled to start for Triple-A Nashville on Tuesday but was instead in Oakland’s clubhouse.
Reliever Liam Hendriks, who’d missed 46 games because of a cyst in his right hip, was reinstated from the DL and catcher Josh Phegley also was recalled from Triple-A Nashville, while right-handed reliever Josh Lucas as optioned back down to Nashville.
