OAKLAND -– The Oakland A’s placed catcher Josh Phegley on the 15-day disabled list retroactive to yesterday with a strained right knee, the club announced today. To take his spot on the roster, the A’s recalled catcher Matt McBride from Triple-A Nashville.
McBride joins the A’s for the third time this year and is batting .222 with one RBI in eight games. He did not play during his first stint from April 27 to 28, and made four starts at catcher during his second stay from May 13 to 26. The 31-year-old right-handed hitter is batting .250 with five home runs and 18 RBI in 43 games with Nashville.
