A’s outfielder Stephen Piscotty has won the Tony Conigliaro Award, which goes annually to a player who has “overcome adversity through the attributes of spirit, determination and courage that were trademarks of Tony C.”
When Piscotty was dealt from St. Louis to Oakland last winter, it allowed him to be with his mother, Gretchen, who had been diagnosed with ALS (Amyotrophic Lateral Sclerosis). She died in May at the family’s Pleasanton home.
