OAKLAND — The A’s announced that Triple-A outfielder Andrew Lambo underwent surgery on Friday for testicular cancer.
Further care is pending the results of pathology and imaging tests, but the 27-year-old Lambo sent out this tweet Tuesday afternoon: “Thank you everyone for the prayers and support. I'm truly blessed to have soo much love. I'm going to beat this and be back on the diamond.”
Lambo was seen by Nashville Sounds team doctor, Dr. David Liddle, and then referred to Vanderbilt Urology, where Dr. Sam Cheng made the diagnosis and performed surgery Friday. Lambo is currently on the Sounds’ seven-day disabled list, and the A’s said they will only provide updates in regards to Lambo’s playing status.
