SAN FRANCISCO — A’s rookie Daniel Gossett is coming off the most impressive outing of his career. His reward? A demotion to Triple-A Nashville.
With opening day starting pitcher Kendall Graveman off the disabled list and slotting back into the rotation, The A’s had to send somebody down and Gossett was the casualty. The 24-year-old right-hander tossed seven strong innings against the San Francisco Giants on Wednesday night, allowing a run on three hits with five strikeouts and picked up the win in a 6-1 victory.
Although the move appears to be a head-scratcher at first glance given the way Gossett pitched, don’t expect him to be in the minors for long.
