The Oakland A’s claimed a reliever off waivers on Monday, which meant they’d need to make a move to clear space on the 28-man roster when their new arm arrived. That follow-up transaction came on Tuesday.
The A’s optioned reliever Miguel Romero to Triple-A Las Vegas, the team announced.
Romero was called up two weeks ago, but he never got into a game. This was his first trip to the majors, so he’ll have to keep waiting to make his MLB debut. The 27-year-old right-hander ranked No. 26 on our Community Prospect List entering the season.
