The Oakland A’s made a trade on Wednesday, acquiring outfielder Starling Marte from the Miami Marlins. The new addition to the team meant someone else would need to go, and the corresponding roster move came Thursday afternoon.
The A’s announced that they optioned utilityman Jacob Wilson to Triple-A Las Vegas, clearing room on the 26-man roster for Marte.
Oakland picked up Wilson as a minor league free agent last winter, and earlier this month he got his first-ever call to the majors, just shy of his 31st birthday.
