A’s reliever Edward Mujica is expected to miss several games while he recovers from a strained right hamstring, manager Bob Melvin told reporters before Monday’s series opener against the Chicago White Sox.
With just 19 games left, that leaves open the question of whether Mujica returns at all this season. Mujica injured himself while covering first base in Sunday’s loss at Texas. Since joining Oakland in May after a trade from Boston, Mujica is 2-3 with a 4.45 ERA in 34 appearances. He’s due to become a free agent after the season.
In other news, center fielder Billy Burns was set for full baseball activity before today’s game.
