OAKLAND — Khris Davis’ presence in the lineup has been missed by the A’s, but they might not have to wait much longer for him to return.
Davis was seen on the field crushing bombs in batting practice and shagging fly balls in the outfield before Sundays’ game against the Diamondbacks. After going on the 10-day disabled list with a right groin strain in Toronto last week, it was Davis’ first time hitting on the field. Having also participated in running progressions, manager Bob Melvin was encouraged by how quickly Davis has been coming along.
“I think we’re making our way with him,” Melvin said.
